Martin is an Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen.

Before joining ITU, he was a Principal Software Engineer at Snowflake, where he worked on security, metadata management, and performance optimizations. He also founded and established Snowflake’s engineering site in Berlin, Germany.

Prior to Snowflake, Martin worked at Microsoft on the Bing search engine. He studied computer science at TU Dresden, Germany, and ETH Zurich, Switzerland, earning his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from ETH Zurich.

His research focuses on database systems, open data and metadata formats, and data management in general.
